“Now that the fall festivals are unveiling their lineups, trailers are beginning to emerge for some of the buzziest titles that will also head into the awards season corridor.Room is one of them. The Lenny Abrahamson-helmed drama about a mother’s boundless love was acquired by A24 at Cannes 2014, and this year FilmNation sold out international on the Riviera where Universal took multiple key territories off of a promo. Today, we’re getting a first look at the captivity drama that’s based on the bestseller by Emma Donoghue. It’s got a Toronto Special Presentations slot and A24 just dated it for an October 16 platform release. We also wouldn’t be surprised to see this one play Telluride.”
“Room, the adaptation of Emma Donoghue‘s best-selling novel starring Brie Larson, has been set for release on Oct. 16 in a limited bow, before expanding nationwide on Nov. 6.
The film, which stars Larson as a young mother who is trapped in a windowless, 10-by-10-foot space with her 5-year-old son, will also screen in September at the Toronto Film Festival, where many awards contenders begin their journey. Now with its theatrical release set during the heart of awards season, Room seems primed for awards consideration.”
The drama has been selected to play in the Special Presentations section of TIFF 2015.
“Tuesday, TSN’s own James Duthie took to Twitter to share an image of himself standing beside one of the stars of the upcoming film, T.J. Miller. The photo was taken on the set of the film, which just so happens to be the actual TSN studio set. Take a look at Duthie’s new broadcast partner!”
